Suntetorp Säteri chooses TKS1612 for its versatility, lightweight construction, and real benefits
Suntetorp Säteri outside Skövde is a farm with deep roots in the soil of Västergötland. For four generations, the land has been cultivated and developed by the Sahlström family. Today, the farm is run by Johan Sahlström, who combines his role as owner and CEO with a strong commitment to the day-to-day work.
At Suntetorp, the main focus on milk production is combined with activities in forestry and crop cultivation, as well as machine manufacturing. The latter takes shape in Sahlström Maskin, a business with roots in Johan's father's interest in invention.
Johan also sits on the board of Bala Agri – a role that has developed naturally.
"I was asked to join the board because of my background in agriculture. It's a mutually rewarding role. I get to contribute my real-world experience, while also seeing how Bala Agri works and develops. It's exciting to be involved in influencing the product range with the user in focus," says Johan.
A flexible cart
When the need arose to supplement the machine fleet, Bala Agri's TKS1612 was chosen for the job – a trailer that suited their needs on several levels and is used in both businesses.
"We have several dump trailers, but we needed something more versatile. The TKS1612 has a flat bottom, low sides, and a raised section that we can remove. This makes it perfect for fertilizer, grain, and pulp," says Johan.
In a business where everything from internal transport to field work must be handled efficiently, flexibility is crucial. With the TKS1612, they have been able to replace the need for several different carts – without compromising.
– Today we used it to spread fertilizer, and tomorrow it could be something completely different. It's a really versatile wagon that works both as a dumper and a grain wagon.
When Johan asked the employees who drive the truck, the answer came quickly – it drives really well on the road!
"It's proof that the design works as it should," says Johan. The trailer is stable, easy to handle, and follows nicely.
Lightweight construction with high performance
Another aspect that Johan highlights is weight – literally. Bala Agri has a clear focus on building sturdily without adding unnecessary material.
– Bala Agri thinks like we do: Lightweight but stable designs. You don't want to oversize unless you have to. It affects both fuel consumption and soil compaction.
Johan believes that more people should reflect on their own weight.
– Soil damage can take several years to repair. Wet years clearly show where the soil has become too compacted. This affects both the harvest and the working environment. The weight should come from the load, not the weight of the cart itself.
With the TKS1612, Suntetorp Säteri has gained a versatile solution that meets their requirements for efficiency, durability, and functionality in everyday use.
"It has simplified our working day by allowing us to be more flexible, which is exactly what we were looking for," concludes Johan.
