Efficient transport with specially built wagon to WasaÅkarn and Söderenergi
At the Söderenergi combined heat and power plant, where the environment and sustainability are key priorities, efficient handling of recycled materials is a central part of the business. Supervisor Lars Olsson works at Söderenergi through the contractor WasaÅkarn and is responsible for a fleet of seven wheel loaders and two, soon to be three, material handlers used at Söderenergi and facilities in Nykvarn and Fittja.
When the need for an additional trailer arose, they sought a trailer that could complement their fleet of machinery. After research by one of their employees, they chose a custom-built bale trailer from Bala Agri, supplied by the dealer Traktor och Maskin in Sörmland – a solution that has proven to be both effective and convenient.
Specially built for their needs
The baler wagon chosen is a modified BV2203B, adapted to meet their specific requirements. The wagon has been extended to 10 meters, widened to 3 meters, and fitted with a special drawbar that works with their material handler. It is used to transport compressed, plastic-wrapped bales filled with SRF material and recyclable rubber residues from various countries.
"We needed to add a trailer to our fleet, and this time we wanted to avoid renovating trucks as we had done previously. This model is designed to be both longer and wider, which means we can carry up to 20 bales of different sizes. One feature we particularly appreciate is its low weight," says Lars.
Stable, smooth, and reliable
The new trailer, with its three-axle design, has exceeded expectations in terms of both stability and maneuverability.
"It was a bit of a gamble for us to choose a trailer with one less axle than we are used to, but it turned out to work fine. The trailer has handled the stresses and challenges we have put it through without any problems," says Lars.
After the first trolley was delivered, Söderenergi ordered another one – a sign that the solution works well for their needs.
– This trailer has been a great addition to our fleet. In other cases, when you position a trailer at a 90-degree angle to the machine, there is a risk of tipping, which can cause breakage, but we don't experience that with our new trailer. It is more stable than we thought and makes it easy for us to use our existing equipment efficiently, " concludes Lars.
